When Do I Need to Enroll?
Missing your enrollment window can lead to lifetime penalties. Here is when you need to act:
Initial Enrollment Period
Turning 65?
You have a 7-month window: 3 months before your birthday month, the month of, and 3 months after.
Special Enrollment Period
Losing employer coverage?
If you delayed Medicare because you were still working, you get an 8-month window to enroll without penalties once that coverage ends.
General Enrollment
Missed your window?
If you missed your Initial Enrollment, you can sign up between January 1 and March 31 each year.
Understanding Your Medicare Options
We help you compare the three main paths to coverage. We keep it simple.
Original Medicare
- Doctor Choice: See any doctor nationwide that accepts Medicare.
- Cost Predictability: You pay 20% of the cost for most services (no yearly limit).
- Extra Benefits: None. No dental, vision, or prescription drug coverage included.
Medicare Advantage (Part C)
- Doctor Choice: Typically uses local HMO or PPO networks.
- Cost Predictability: Set copays for visits and a strict out-of-pocket maximum.
- Extra Benefits: Often includes dental, vision, and drug coverage.
Medicare Supplement (Medigap)
- Doctor Choice: See any doctor nationwide that accepts Medicare.
- Cost Predictability: Highly predictable. Pays the 20% that Original Medicare leaves behind.
- Extra Benefits: Only covers medical costs. Requires a separate Part D plan for prescriptions.
Local Coverage That Keeps Your Doctors
Healthcare is local. A plan that looks great on paper isn’t useful if it doesn’t include your preferred doctors. We work extensively with provider networks covering:
- Community Memorial Hospital
- Los Robles Regional Medical Center
- Ventura County Medical Center
Note: Plan availability varies by ZIP code. We check your specific Camarillo or Ventura area options to ensure your doctors are in-network.
Please Note: We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day/7 days a week, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.
